PSAT Testing Information for registered Juniors

On October 13th, the PSAT/NMSQT (Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying
Test) will be administered to juniors who signed up and completed pre-registration through the PushCoin webstore. Registration closed on September 14th, but there are a limited number of exam seats left. To be placed on the waitlist please contact Mr. VanKampen.
The PSAT/NMSQT assesses reading, writing, language and mathematics reasoning focusing on knowledge and skills predictive of college and career readiness and success. This testing
experience will help prepare students for the experience of taking the SAT, which they will be
required to do in the spring of their junior year. Additionally, juniors may qualify for entry into national scholarship programs through the PSAT/NMSQT. Students are also encouraged to go online to https://www.khanacademy.org/sat for additional test preparation resources related to the PSAT.
Students should prepare for testing on October 13th by:
• Getting a good night’s sleep and eating a nutritious breakfast.
• Being on time for school. Testing starts promptly at 7:25 AM.
• Keeping cell phones in their lockers or leaving them at home.
• Bringing two #2 pencils, a calculator, student ID, and a healthy snack to testing.
This year, PSAT testing will take place in the field house. A link to testing seating assignments
will be posted online and in the atrium by Monday, October 11th.
Students’ scores will be available through their College Board accounts in December. Students
new to PSAT testing are encouraged to create a College Board account using their personal email address. Please contact your student’s school counselor if you have questions regarding
the PSAT/NMSQT.
